Free Slurpee Day

7-eleven is one of our favorite places and 7/11 is one of our favorite dates. We look forward to free Slurpee day every year. It is kind of a family tradition to participate, that is as long as it doesn't fall on a Sunday. It was so fun to introduce Jack to this super fun activity and the joy that comes with drinking Slurpees. I'm surprised at how he guzzles them down, the frozen coldness doesn't bother him in the slightest.

Building Fun

We had the opportunity to attend another one of Lowe's Build and Grow workshop. This weekend's project was a Tow Truck with a working tow hook. Suzie, took advantage of the good weather and held it outside. It was so nice to be able to spread out and have more space to work. This was one of the more complicated projects they have featured. I'm so glad Dan is good at understanding and following the directions that come in the kit.

Happy 4th of July

We had a pretty uneventful 4th of July. Once again Daddy had to work, so the kids and I hung out at the house all day. We had a nice BBQ dinner and then headed out to stake a spot to watch the fireworks. We are lucky enough to live in a neighborhood that has a clear view to where the fireworks were being let off, The Out of Town Park. So, we didn't have to go far. In the past we would just walk across the street, however we now have houses over there that block part of the view. This year we took chairs down by our mailbox and camped out in front of our friends' house.

The kids got a little restless waiting for the show to begin. I'm so glad I won out and we didn't try taking them to the park, it would have been a nightmare. However, Daddy was smart and brought Popsicles and Otter Pops for everyone.

This helped to pass the time. I think Jack enjoyed his the most, until he dropped it on the ground.

Zoe and Jack fell asleep before the finale, which created a slight problem in hauling everything back to the house. I hope Dan doesn't work next year and that we are able to go see them in Lake Tahoe.

Fire Party

We were invited over to the Egberts to celebrate Rachael's 16th birthday. The kids were really excited to go since they heard Sister Egbert would be making home made ice cream. The kids had been looking forward to this day since they went to Whitney's party last year. They debated all week who would be able to lick the paddle. In the end it was Zoe, Noah was too embarrassed this time around.

The kids loved jumping on the trampoline. They keep begging for us to get one for our yard.

The birthday girl was even kind enough to take some time away from her older guests and give the little kids the attention they craved. It was so fun to watch her play with them and make each one feel special.
Jack loved the ice cream. I'm guessing his favorite was the Root Beer Ice Cream. I think I enjoyed the vanilla almond more.
The older kids were playing volleyball and these little ones wanted in on the action too. Tressa was kind enough to hold a mini volleyball camp for them in the side yard. I hear my son has some mean skills. Maybe this will be a sport that interests him. She said he was the only one who really made contact with the ball.
We noticed a fire had started on the hill outside of Fernley on our way to the party. The smoke was pretty thick and you could smell it. By the end of the party you could actually see the flames cresting the hill top. Noah said a prayer that it wouldn't burn the Egbert's house. We weren't too concerned as it would have to jump the freeway to get anywhere near us.
It was a great start to the 4th of July weekend.

Lowe's Delivery

Look what came to our house this morning.

The Lowe's Delivery Truck. Bringing us all the needed supplies for the deck Dan is going to build. We were finally able to put our tax return to good use this year and invest in our back yard. I can't wait until it is completed as it is going to be so nice. He is also going to put rain gutters up, so we don't have the massive waterfall in our front entry way, that turns into a skating rink in the winter.

It was supposed to be an afternoon delivery, but they showed up at 8 am. At least he called me first and gave me the heads up.

The kids loved watching the worker drive the forklift around. They didn't understand why it only had 3 wheels and weren't too happy that it left tracks all over our driveway.Look at all these boards...

I had the privilege of helping Dan move all of this to the backyard.

No one can say I didn't do anything to support him or help him with this project. I know I am going to be sore in the morning.
