Halloween Take 2

We went Trunk or Treating Thursday night. We had hot dogs and chili for dinner, followed by a costume parade, and then it was outside to gather the candy. They had a nice back drop set up for pictures, but as usual it was nearly impossible to get them both to look at the same time. So here are a few of the attempts. (Dan took pictures on the other camera - that I hope to get on the computer soon!) I love dressing them up in coordinating outfits; this year Tinkerbell and Captain Hook, last year Firefighter and his Dalmatian dog, the year before that Zoo Animals. I hope they let me do it for a few more years. One thing funny while the kids were walking around waiting for the fun to begin, one of the moms said something like "oh no it's Captain Hook, I'm so scared," and Noah quickly took off his hat and replied, "No, it's just me, Noah." Here are a few pictures after the parade and before gathering candy. Noah and Zoe's little friend Sam....

Eye see you

We made these cute and spooky treats for Noah's Preschool Class. It was a family affair - Noah put the eyeballs on the forks, Mommy dipped them, Daddy added the pupils and blood, and Zoe helped out by eating the ones that didn't turn out just right.

After all the work was done, the boys couldn't resist the temptation to have some fun. Like Father..... Like Son.....

Halloween Take 1

Getting ready for our first Halloween Party of the year. I was actually able to get Zoe's hair into a nice "Tinkerbell" bun. My cute fairy...
Today was our Halloween Party at the local Library as part of our story time fun. This year Miss Helen with help from some "friends of the library" set up a cute little carnival for the kids. The parents, grandparents, and care takers that bring kids each week supplied the food. There were yummy cupcakes, cookies, candy, juice boxes, and a cheese tray. We had so much fun can't wait to see what they do next year. Here are some of the highlights.

Station #1 - Go Fishing. Fishing for a Halloween treat.

Station #2 - Bean Bag Toss. Zoe and Noah attempting to toss the beanbags onto the eyes and nose of the Jack 'O Lantern.

Station #3 - Ring toss. Zoe winding up to throw a ring around the ghosts.

Station #4 - Halloween Picture. This is our 2nd attempt - Noah wouldn't cooperate with the nice volunteer lady from "Friends of the Library" who came to help.

Station #5 - Halloween Craft. The kids made these cute Halloween wreaths. (Noah's is on the left, Zoe's is on the right - she insisted on gluing extra figures on hers.)

Pumpkin Carving

We finally carved our pumpkins the other night for a fun FHE activity and in an attempt to get ready for Halloween. This year we grew our own pumpkins and the kids had 12 to choose from. Plus we have loved being able to share our white pumpkins with our friends.

Random Events

Noah and Zoe's favorite place to run....the lawn at the library. They have so much fun playing out in front of the library each week, too bad it is getting so cold.
They love the colored leaves that fall from the tree in front of the library.

The kids got to help one of Daddy's coworkers with a school project. She is designing an ad of some sort and if she wins the contest the kids will appear in a magazine. I guess the concept for her project is that the bubbles blown by the kids turn into different things. Here are a few pics from the photo shoot with Dad.

New Halloween shirts from Grandma Sandi. Impossible to get both kids to look at the same time with a decent looking facial expression, but it shows their personalities. They wanted the picture taken by our scarecrows, but couldn't decide who would stand by which one - then Noah decided they should hold hands. It was really cute, but with the cold I just wanted to get it done.

I'll have to settle for this one - Thanks again Grandma!

Boo!

I got this idea from a friend. The kids and I had a lot of fun making these Ghost cookies to share with our special dinner guests - The Missionaries. Noah really enjoys them coming to our house, but won't talk to them while they are here. As you can see - one child was better than the other when it came to making these treats.

But, I think creating a memory is more important than the actual results. We will be attempting another Halloween treat very soon.
