The McDonald Update

Sorry to all my faithful blog followers for the absence of updates. It's been a couple of crazy weeks between story time at the library, play group, recipe group, primary activities, visiting teaching appointments, being creative with what's in the freezer and pantry, and trying not to spend any money until Pay Day. I am happy to report that we all survived. Hopefully the following entries of events from the past few weeks make up for my laziness and don't completely bore you to death.

-----------------------------------------------------------

Dan and I had the opportunity the other day to remember what it is like to be a couple. My friend Brya was kind enough to keep Noah and Zoe for the day. Dan and I enjoyed a nice quiet ride into Reno. We were able to finish a conversation with out being interrupted. Listen to what we wanted to listen to. I got to drink my own soda, with out sharing any of it. We had a nice lunch and a fun shopping trip. It was very refreshing to spend time together with out any distractions. I was relieved to find out that we still like spending time together and have plenty of things, besides our kids, to talk about. We missed our kids, but know they had fun playing with their friends Wyatt, Dayton, and Jenna. They must have played really hard as they slept really well that night. Noah even slept through an entire trip to Walmart (and he loves Walmart) and Zoe fell asleep sitting up in the cart. I get to return the favor tomorrow, as her kids will be at my house and she gets the opportunity to spend time with her husband. It's a new thing we're trying out and I think it will be a great for both of us. Dates with your spouse are much more doable and affordable, if you don't have to pay a babysitter. We are hoping to make it a monthly occurrence.

--------------------------------------------------------

Noah's recent prayer additions:

thank you for kids
thank you for Thanksgiving
thank you for Christmas

-------------------------------------------------------

Zoe's sayings:

"Wha hit me!" (Noah hit me!)
"Weave me wone!" (leave me alone!)
"I nasty pig" -- when she's covered from head to toe with her breakfast, lunch, or dinner

Hi Shauna!

Great blog! I love coming here and seeing what you're up to. Hey, I was wondering if you would mind emailing me your mailing address. Alyssa and Alax would like to send you a wedding announcement.

Thanks!
Tami

I can't imagine where Zoe learned the phrase "nasty pig." :)

I love it. There will be other children besides mine who will need extensive therapy during adulthood to heal the emotional scars inflicted by sarcastic parenting :)

It is all her father's fault. I don't like it when he uses the phrase, but it's pretty darn cute when she says it. And boy is it the truth. She manages to make even clean foods messy. I guess it's one of her many talents.
