2 Weeks Old

Another week has passed. We were fortunate to have Grandma Lynie and Papa Mike's help with taking Noah back and forth to school and with the other day to day tasks this week.

Highlights from week 2:

Jack had his first doctor's appointment. A week after our discharge from the hospital Jack's weight was already back up to 6 lbs. 11 oz. - close enough to his birth weight that Dr. Smith said we didn't need to come back until his 2 month check up for shots. Other items discussed: his goopy eye better known as a blocked tear duct and the fact that he sneezes more than any baby I know. These aren't baby sneezes either. He sneezes as loud as Papa Tim.

My first postpartum appointment with Dr. Dekay. I was worried about the pain on my left side and the slow healing process. After a thorough examination he was happy to report that my incision was healing wonderfully and I didn't have any hernias, just a couple of knots that would eventually work themselves out in the next week or two. He sent me on my way with refills on my pain medications and a reminder not to lift anything heavier than my baby.

I also had my first outing without a baby in tow. My good friend Jalyssa called one evening and invited me to go to a jewelry party with her. She was willing to pick me up, as I wasn't up to driving yet, and the party was in my neighborhood, so Dan was willing to keep Jack. It was weird to be out so soon without the baby, but it was also nice to visit with other women. I was gone about 2 hours and everyone was still alive and in good spirits when I got home. Dan even managed to play a couple of board games with the older kids in my absence.

Jack hanging out in his bouncer....This is one of my favorite pictures. Noah and I were home alone. Grandma Lynie and Papa Mike had left for Utah and we were waiting for Daddy to come home from work. He asked to hold baby Jack. After a few minutes I noticed things had become very quiet. When I turned around this is what I found. Both of my boys fast asleep on the couch. I'm so glad the newness hasn't worn off and that he still loves his baby brother to death.
